Description

The half-timbered houses (maisons à colombages) are an element of the architectural and cultural heritage historical. In 1988 UNESCO included in the List of World Heritage La Grande-île de Strasbourg, historic city center, around the cathedral, where there are numerous buildings of this style. Such houses, which are native to the entire region of Rhineland, they have a good representation in Alsace, and unfortunately they are in danger, for the restoration costs, by the transition law energy and the voracity of urbanization. This tangible and real estate is
blurred by geography, and influences the ideas of heritage landscape and biocultural landscape. And in the architectural technique itself, perhaps you could qualify as intangible heritage as tradition or custom.
