The basin of the fountain was built in the 17th century and channelled the various branches of water that came from the mountains and the hermitage to pools and a trough as well as for the irrigation of the large vegetable garden. The present fountain was inaugurated in 1881, although a document from 1574 already recognised it as a larger fountain.
La Balsa de la fuente está construida al siglo XVII y canalizaba los diversos ramales de agua que provenían de la sierra y de la ermita, hasta unos charcos y un abrevadero así como para el riego de la huerta grande. La fuente actual fue inaugurada el 1881 aunque un documento del 1574 ya la reconocía como fuente más grande.
