Ermita del Cristo del Amparo(Guadasequies)

It is located at the end of a street on the outskirts of the town, on a small hill overlooking the neighbouring village of Sempere.

It was built at the beginning of the 20th century, in the upper part of the village. It is a work of masonry and brick. It has a Latin cross floor plan with a half-barrel vault. The dome supported by shells, the rectangular presbytery, the rose windows in the chapels and the Baroque style canvas of the Christ of Amparo, from the middle of the 18th century, stand out.

In the front wall is the canvas with the Christ of Amparo, a Baroque work by an unknown artist from the mid-18th century, which represents the Crucified Christ with the Virgin, St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph of Arimathea at the foot of the cross. This work was restored in 2001.
The Christ is carried in procession during his feast day, which is celebrated on 14th August, on his luxurious litter, which is also kept in the chapel.

Se halla al final de una calle en las afueras de la población, en una pequeña elevación que mira hacia el vecino pueblo de Sempere.

Fue edificada a principios del siglo XX, en la parte alta de la población. Es una obra de masonería i ladrillo. La planta es de cruz latina y vuelta de medio cañón. Destaca la cúpula sostenida por conchas, el presbiterio rectangular, los rosetones de las capillas y el lienzo del Cristo del Amparo de estilo barroco, de mediados del siglo XVIII.

En el testero se encuentra el lienzo con el Cristo del Amparo, obra barroca de autor desconocido de mediados del siglo XVIII, que representa al Crucificado con la Virgen, San Juan Bautista y San José de Arimatea a los pies de la cruz. Esta obra fue restaurada en el año 2001.
El Cristo es sacado en procesión durante su festividad que se celebra el 14 de agosto, sobre sus lujosas andas que también se conservan en la ermita.
