The Rugat Castle is a construction of Islamic origin belonging to the municipality of Aielo de Rugat.
It was located at the top of the hill of El Castellet, next to the town. It is currently in a state of progressive ruin and only the remains of its main façade are still standing, with the door and several windows still visible. This fortress formed part of the mountainous defensive system in the south of the province of Valencia, together with the manors of Carbonera, Palma, Villalonga and El Rebollet, and served as a lookout and defence for the whole area.
El Castillo de Rugat es una construcción de origen islámico perteneciente al término municipal de Aielo de Rugat.
Se encontraba situado en lo alto del cerro de El Castellet, junto a la población. Actualmente se encuentra en estado de ruina progresiva y solo quedan en pie los restos de su fachada principal, pudiéndose distinguir la puerta y varias ventanas. Esta fortaleza formó parte del sistema defensivo montañoso del sur de la provincia de Valencia, junto con los señoríos de Carbonera, Palma, Villalonga y el Rebollet y servía de vigía y defensa a toda la zona.
