The Intendencia Fluvial is the cultural heritage of Barranquilla. It was built between 1926 and 1928 and was established as the physical Puerta de Oro of Colombia (Colombia's Golden Gate). Currently, it is the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Barranquilla. The restoration of the building of the Fluvial Intendency of Barranquilla and the construction of the Magdalena River Plaza Grande adjacent to the Fluvial Administration building, in the sector of the 46th and Vía 40, has recovered an icon of high patrimonial value which becomes a strategic center of cultural management at the entrance to Avenida del Río and the Historical Center of the city.
La Intendencia Fluvial es el patrimonio cultural de Barranquilla. Fue construida entre 1926 y 1928 y se estableció como la Puerta de Oro física de Colombia. Actualmente, es la sede de la Secretaría de Cultura y Patrimonio de Barranquilla. La restauración del edificio de la Intendencia Fluvial de Barranquilla y la construcción de la Plaza Grande del Río Magdalena aledaña al edificio de la Administración Fluvial, en el sector de la 46 con Vía 40, ha recuperado un ícono de alto valor patrimonial que se convierte en un centro estratégico de gestión cultural a la entrada de la Avenida del Río y del Centro Histórico de la ciudad.
