El Carnaval de Barranquilla es patrimonio inmaterial de la Humanidad porque reúne expresiones emblemáticas de la memoria e identidad de los pueblos de Barranquilla, el Caribe colombiano y el Río Grande de la Magdalena. Esta celebración es una obra maestra del genio creativo humano porque es el único espacio en el país donde se expresan manifestaciones culturales como resultado de la hibridación de culturas dominadas -fronteriza y africana- como una forma de resistencia a estos pueblos.
